On the weekend of October 11-13, 2024, we gathered with 5 participating couples and a very nice diverse team of helpers for the first Cana weekend – “Hope for fertility”. A weekend for couples with a (primary or secondary) unfulfilled desire for children.
These courageous couples wanted to take the time and space to share in their pain and life together with other couples. And also to look into this pain and grief in the couple together with each other and with God.
It was especially precious to be able to experience the ingredients of Cana together; time for each other, time in part-time groups, prayer times, introductions, testimonies. It was a lot, but, from what we heard back, all worthwhile and very beneficial.
There was a nice balance between depth and relaxation/fun, the attention to well-crafted meals, and on Saturday night a “dinner for two” was in good spirits.
Here’s what one couple wrote about the weekend:
“The weekend was definitely worthwhile. Very nice to meet fellow sufferers, to know that you are not the only one. Staying in the abbey gave an extra dimension to the program, because of the prayer times and the services. The program was intensive, but there was also room for relaxation and sociability. It is an investment in your relationship and in your faith life!”
We look back with great gratitude on a weekend where God was at work.
Where life and hope was born right through the pain.
