In Belgium, the CANA team has taken up the challenge of change. Observing the current lifestyle of couples in the country, we realized that it is not always possible for them to make a very strict commitment. We were won over by the new proposal for the CANA year, which is more attentive to each couple. Since it is more flexible and “à la carte,” it seemed to us to correspond to the diversity of the couples we meet.
In this new form of commitment, each couple can choose the events they will experience this year, based on their needs, desires, and previous journey, but also based on their current reality: where they live, the size of their family, the age of their children, their professional or family obligations, their commitments to service in the Church and in society… All of these factors carry weight, and the journey with CANA can take them into account more fully.
In practice, it took a lot of work for us to familiarize ourselves with this new proposal, and then to present and explain it to all those potentially concerned. But the initial feedback is encouraging, as twice as many couples have embarked on this adventure with us this September!
May the Holy Spirit guide and bless them all, and in them and through them, may love grow a little more in our world!
