Sister Marie’s visit to Madagascar was a real blessing for the couples involved in CANA. This time of meeting, sharing and formation strengthened their missionary commitment and rekindled their desire to serve families, even in the most remote parts of the country.
What a joy it was for the CANA Fraternity in Madagascar to welcome Sister Marie Bourbonnais, leader of CANA International!
The 10 couples who make up the CANA fraternity in Tananarive took time out to talk with Marie, and took advantage of her presence to ask questions about CANA’s new challenges and the situation of missionary couples in the face of current family needs.
The road to Fianarantsoa and then to Nasandratrony, in the Betsileo bush, was winding, bumpy and long, but the joy of reuniting with one another was worth more than that. This region is home to 29 couples, including families from rural areas, who walk 5 to 6 hours to attend meetings organized by the CANA Fraternity. They were particularly touched by the visit of our international leader, who this time came all the way to their village. It was a simply FRATERNAL time of exchange!
To take full advantage of Mary’s presence, a training weekend for Fraternity leaders from the 3 regions was then organized in Antsirabe. 16 couples took part, and were delighted to be able to strengthen their mission and role as leaders. Although most of them were new and young couples in charge, the richness of the training and above all the exchange between “leaders” encouraged them to continue their journey with greater confidence, relying on the Lord. It is He who calls and it is He who enables.
Couples from the Antsirabe Fraternity then closed the event by testifying to the benefits that the Lord has preciously offered them through the CANA mission, both for their couple and their family. Glory be to the Lord for the beauty of each union and each couple’s commitment to serving other families!
