How can we take care of our families today? How can we live our faith in a fun and accessible way for all ages? How can single-parent families find their place in the Church?
Here is a new recipe from CANA in Normandy, France, tried out this year: French Fry and Family Nights!
Ingredients:
- Invite families of all kinds 🧘♀️ 🤸 👨🦼➡️ 👫 🤼
- Bring them together for a themed evening once a quarter… Friday is perfect ✨
- Create a friendly and festive atmosphere 🎉
- Start with an aperitif 🍾🥂, dancing, and games 💃🏻
- French fries for dinner, of course 🍟
- Add family sharing 👨🦰👩🦰👶👱
- A time of prayer and praise 🙏
- A small gift to take home to continue sharing at home
- A generous spoonful of the Holy Spirit to tie it all together 🕊️🔥
This “menu” brought together an average of 15 families each evening at the “Étoile de la Mer”… 80 people of all ages, all Christian denominations, and from all corners of Normandy.
The goal of these three evenings was to enjoy family time, experience the joy of fellowship, and spend time together freely. The themes of these evenings were: loving your family, the languages of love, and the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
The experience showed that this new proposal was able to reach new families, some of whom remained faithful throughout the three meetings.
Perhaps you too are looking for a new “menu” for families? Ask the Holy Spirit what is possible in your home and be creative and joyful in your mission together. Enlarge the stakes of your tent and you will witness the action of the Holy Spirit!
