After a period marked by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the CANA mission in Uganda is reaching a new stage. On Sunday 23rd November 2025, CANA Uganda launched CANA Welcome at Munyonyo Martyrs Shrine Parish in the Archdiocese of Kampala.
On that day, 9 couples grouped under 3 fraternities committed themselves to be in the CANA Welcome programme for one year. We are very optimistic of the growth of CANA in this Parish since there is a list of over 30 couples proposing to join CANA.
This is the first CANA Welcome to be launched in Uganda since the end of the Covid 19 pandemic.
Uganda has had 2 cycles of CANA Welcome in 2018 (the first CANA Welcome with 25 couples) and in 2019 with 20 couples.
All these couples later joined the CANA Fraternity after participating in CANA 123 and CANA Week.
Special thanks goes to Fr. Voyteck Ulman OFM Conv. who invited CANA in his Parish, a team from the Chemin Neuf Community Uganda and CANA Kampala Archdiocesan Fraternity, who spearheaded the re-launch of CANA Welcome in Uganda.
