In Guadeloupe, CANA is celebrating its 10th anniversary! After years of prayer, tenacity and hope, the mission is finally developing gradually on the island. It’s offering couples the chance to experience encounter, restoration and the discovery of God’s presence.
Tenacity and hope
The beginnings of the mission began in the 2000s with couples taking part in what was then known as the “Cana session”, mostly in Martinique.
It was in 2013 that the process, fraught with difficulties, tenacity and hope, came to fruition: love strengthened, reactivated, revealed with happiness and suffering. Thank you to all those who have prayed and worked for over 20 years to make God’s plan for couples and families a reality in Guadeloupe.
Experiencing the encounter
Yes! since 2013 the CANA mission has made sense in Guadeloupe
10 years of the CANA mission in Guadeloupe with 134 couples, sometimes with their families, who came to experience the encounter with GOD, to meet, share and pray.
What they discovered there helped them, according to their desire and will, to improve or even change their life as a couple, to discover or restore their relationship with God (through a personal and community encounter) and to improve their fraternal ties (between couples and families).
Some have stayed with the Community for a while, while others have chosen to go their own way.
In 2023, the three-weekend CANA Week, following the ‘CANA 1,2,3’ programme, once again demonstrated the manifestation of God and the benefits of this new formula.
It was with great joy that the Community in Guadeloupe celebrated the 10th anniversary of the mission at Duzer Sainte Rose. The members of the Community helped to organise the celebrations in a spirit of brotherhood.
Gratitude
Couples who have taken part in CANA weeks since 2013 accepted the invitation. The celebration was punctuated by the Eucharist and a time of conviviality, which helped to reveal once again the joy of being in communion with Christ, and to recall the marvels of God: “This is the work of the Lord, the wonder before our eyes.” Ps 117:23
Everyone was able to give thanks to the Lord on a “wall of gratitude” for the benefits he has brought to their lives. The children, young and old alike, sang “Thank you from a grateful heart to the Lord thrice holy”.
We would like to thank the CANA International team and in particular Father Christophe BLIN who accompanied and trained us during the first years. Thank you to our brothers and sisters from Martinique who came to strengthen and comfort us. Thank you to the single people who have come to help us.
We must continue to anchor this mission, so special and so beautiful, for the couples and families of Guadeloupe, relying on the Holy Spirit to help us find the right path together.
To do this, we need to go beyond our personal prayers, as a couple, as a family and as a community, and live out the brotherhood that reflects God’s love, as the Word asks us to do: “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (Jn 13:35).
2013 to 2023, CANA Week, CANA 1, 2, 3…, are proposals for “standing up” and “listening” to the Word.
The CANA mission and all the brothers of the community give thanks to the Lord for his blessings, for the Holy Spirit at the heart of God’s work.
