For four days, wherever he went (Paris, Lourdes, Metz), Pope Leo XIV won over both the faithful and curious non-believers with his simplicity and the power of his words, spoken with firmness yet great gentleness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-2 wp-block-paragraph\">What lessons can we, as CANA couples around the world who wish to grow in love, share, and bear witness to our faith in societies facing violence and war, climate change, and the digital upheavals brought about by AI, take away from this?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-3 wp-block-paragraph\">Let us remember this invitation from L\u00e9on XIV to the 80,000 young people who came to meet him during an incredible vigil: \u201cYou are the saints of France!\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-4 wp-block-paragraph\">No doubt this call is not limited to the young people of France alone, but is addressed to all of us, for it adds, \u201cDear friends, the dynamic that characterizes the Christian life has a specific name: it is called the path to holiness.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-5 wp-block-paragraph\">This path to holiness is, above all, the commandment that God gives us, particularly in the Book of Leviticus\u2014which lies at the heart of the Torah\u2014where the word \u201choliness\u201d is mentioned 152 times! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-6 wp-block-paragraph\">So here is the plan for our lives given by the Lord, reaffirmed by the Pope in recent days and as we approach the Feast of All Saints: \u201c<strong>Be holy!<\/strong>\u201d Nothing less than that!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-7 wp-block-paragraph\">To guide us on this path toward holiness, Leo XIV offered many profound and powerful words in the various speeches he delivered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-8 wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>Let&#8217;s take a look at some of these words\u2026<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-orange-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-9\"><em><strong>The Pope invites each of us\u2014and our marriage as a couple\u2014first and foremost to deeply desire holiness as a profound longing, a call to throw ourselves into Christ\u2026 \u201cIf anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink\u201d (Jn 7:37).<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-10 wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe longing for God dwells deep within our hearts, and we cry out with the Psalmist: \u2018My soul thirsts for God, the living God\u2019 (Ps 41:3)! This is the cry of a humble and passionate man whose deepest, most existential thirst continues to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-11 wp-block-paragraph\">Our couples, our families, and our community are thirsty. Let us turn to Christ, the source of living water\u2014\u201cthat water which quenches our thirst and brings life to bloom, that water of God\u2019s love \u2018poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us\u2019 (Rom 5:5).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-orange-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-12\"><strong>Leo XIV reminds us that holiness means living in truth under the gaze of Jesus\u2026<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-13 wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe knows each and every one of us by name. Nothing escapes him\u2014not our secrets, our intentions, or our weaknesses. He searches the depths of our hearts\u2026 He carries the weary or wounded sheep on his shoulders, and gently brings back those who have strayed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-14 wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTo Him, none of us is a number on an ID card or a serial number, but a person\u2014a unique and irreplaceable person.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-15 wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere is no failure from which God cannot lift us up: His mercy is our joy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-orange-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-16\"><strong>The pope also reminds us that holiness means striving toward goodness and toward others\u2026<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-17 wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs we journey along this path of holiness, it becomes clear that it is not enough simply to avoid evil; we must choose the good.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-18 wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTo make the right choices, remember this principle: what is good gives life; it never takes it away. What is good cares for others; it does not take for itself.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-19 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>He invites us, like<\/strong> \u201cSaint Bakhita,\u201d to see those who are invisible, to free those whom the economy and culture today reduce to slavery, and to honor the infinite dignity of every brother and sister, in whom Jesus himself comes knocking at the door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-20 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>He recalls the words of Don Elder Camara:<\/strong> \u201cNo one is so poor that they have nothing to give; no one is so rich that they have nothing to receive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-21 wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are indeed called to turn toward our brothers and sisters, rediscovering God\u2019s unique way\u2014one marked by closeness, compassion, and tenderness.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-22 wp-block-paragraph\">And the pope concluded his homily before the families gathered in Paris\u2019s vast Place de la Concorde and on the Champs-\u00c9lys\u00e9es with these encouraging words: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-23 wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am thinking of you, dear families, who, despite the many difficulties you face each day, courageously persevere in your mission [\u2026] May <strong>the gift of the Holy Spirit make you living witnesses, ready to spread the civilization of love wherever you go<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-24 wp-block-paragraph\">Let us welcome the Spirit of God and allow ourselves to be guided, for, in reality, holiness is not earned\u2014it is received. Our actions are good and necessary, but holiness is a grace given by God. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, our journey toward personal and marital holiness is a life fully lived in the world\u2014a life that does not merely seek to avoid evil, but is also committed to doing good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:56px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-normal-font-size wp-elements-25 wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Let us remain immersed in the source that quenches our thirst: Christ!
